Congratulations on your promotion! In France, I'm always surprised that it is the honorée who must take the initiative in organizing the "pot" (celebratory affair). In my office of researchers, these are usually uncomfortable affairs, standing around the conference table, making small talk or opting for awkward silence. This year, rather than having to organize something like this for my 50th, I took the week off. But bravo to you for taking the initiative and exporting some of our American celebratory spirit!
